The Ӱר Radio TIGER remote control provides real-time feedback from on-board instruments on the submarine. But that is not the only reason to choose this radio remote control system. Tiger provides maximum safety to various types of industrial applications, it is independently SIL3, PLe certified.

‘’The Ӱר Radio remote control takes the operability of the Triton 660/9 AVA to the next level. When the underwater team on the Scenic Eclipse II launch their 660/9 AVA submarine from the underwater bunker, Ӱר Radio’s radio control allows the team to bring the submarine to a safe distance from the ship before boarding. This reduces the time the submarine is near the mother ship during the most difficult period of dive operations: launch and recovery. Moreover, the remote control gives the deck officer more control over the submarine while it is unmanned but being launched or recovered.’’

Ӱר Radio has a wide range of both push-button hand transmitters and joystick transmitters. However, there is one model that combines the precision of a joystick transmitter with the compactness and equality of a push button transmitter. These are the Ӱר Radio TIGER TG-T14 and TG-T15 transmitters with 6 or 8 analog buttons for proportional control. The deeper you press the analog buttons, the higher the output signal, which allows for the same precise control as the one usually achieved with a joystick or paddle. We call this functionality proportional push buttons.

Tiger T14

The benefits of such transmitters, compared to a joystick transmitter, are the ease of use and the low costs.

Ӱר Radio tested the push-buttons of its transmitters for resistance, lifespan, functionality and ergonomics. These tests show that our 2-step push-buttons can be pressed up to 30.000 times, and up to 112.000 times for the analog push-buttons, without showing any loss of quality. Furthermore, Ӱר Radio push-buttons are easy to press and comfortable to hold.

Moreover, if a push button no longer functions properly, it doesn’t mean the entire transmitter has to be replaced, as our push-buttons can easily be removed and replaced with new ones. Many spare parts are available, which means that in most cases our transmitters can be repaired and thus have a long lifespan. This makes the possibilities of the TIGER transmitters, available with ordinary or proportional push-buttons, greater than ever.

Another additional benefit, in case a compact handheld transmitter is preferred, is that feedback can be given via the built-in LCD screen thanks to the duplex communication (dual communication) that allows the transmitter to receive feedback information from the receiver and/or the system.

Would you like to test our proportional push button transmitter or any other system of Ӱר Radio?

Anyone who works with radio transmitters and receivers will eventually have to familiarize themselves with the concept of ‘frequencies’. What exactly are radio frequencies, how are they applied, which frequency should be chosen for specific situations, and how can we ensure secure communication?

What is a frequency?

Frequencies are the basis of wireless communication between equipment using sound waves. This technique is employed on land, at sea, and in the air. Sound waves are essentially vibrations, and the number of vibrations per second is referred to as “frequency.” For instance, a frequency of 433 MHz represents 433 million vibrations per second. Ӱר Radio utilizes frequencies for its industrial radio controls.

Which frequency should I choose?

Ӱר Radio uses a range of frequencies, such as 433, 869, or 915 MHz, and 2.4 GHz, for transmitter and receiver combinations. But how do you determine the best choice?

When selecting a frequency, three factors should be considered. Firstly, it is crucial to ascertain which frequencies are legally permitted in the region where you will be using the transmitter, as certain frequencies are restricted to specific applications like military or aviation. Secondly, it is important to assess the presence of potential interference from other wireless connections. Lastly, consider whether there are any physical obstructions like steel frames or walls that might disrupt or impede the wireless connection.

1. Which frequencies to use?

Radio frequencies are commonly regulated, and their permitted use can vary depending on the region of the world where the equipment is to be used. For instance, in Europe, 433 or 869 MHz frequencies are commonly used, while in American countries, 433 or 915 MHz frequencies are popular. If a manufacturer supplies machines worldwide, the more universal frequency of 2.4 GHz may be convenient.

As a general rule, high frequencies (treble) with shorter waveforms travel shorter distances and tend to reflect off walls quickly. Conversely, low frequencies (bass) with longer waveforms can travel greater distances and are more likely to penetrate walls or obstacles.

2. The best possible signal

Ӱר Radio systems incorporate various technologies to ensure the best possible signal quality. It is crucial to avoid interference from other wireless connections. The technology has been developed and secured to address this concern.

3. Avoiding or bypassing obstacles

Obstacles can potentially disrupt the wireless connection. This can be both frustrating and hazardous. Signal amplifiers, directional antennas, and other devices can be employed to overcome these challenges. Ӱר Radio offers a wide range of accessories to achieve optimal results for your specific situation.

Ensuring secure communication

Secure communication requires preventing unauthorized control of the receiver on your machine or device. All Ӱר Radio systems are designed with safety in mind. Even the simplest system includes a unique key in every transmitter, which is transmitted via our proprietary software using the chosen frequency. With this solution, we ensure that only the selected/intended receivers are controlled. Depending on the product range, a pin code can also be configured to prevent unauthorized individuals from operating the transmitter.

This level of security is of utmost importance in applications involving heavy lifting and hoisting, industrial operations like conveyor belts and rubble crushers, as well as gate and door control, excavators, dredgers, and various vehicles ranging from recovery vehicles to concrete mixers.

A safe and efficient use of wireless controls in Rotterdam

is one of Europe’s leading mold makers for precast plants and on-site use. Throughout the years the Construx team learned to be creative and innovative. In the very competitive West European market you can only stand out if you are creative, and that is exactly what the Construx crew is good at. They are not a company with high-brow declarations but they are truly convinced that working together with Ӱר Radio is a choosing for a partnership based on audacity, expertise, quality, and flexibility.

For some of the automated precast molds that Construx produces, a Ӱר Radio remote control is incorporated; since this ensures safety, freedom of movement and speed in the procedures. They have chosen Ӱר Radio Panther remote system because these have a safety function. They are easy to use and install, and programmable according to the specific needs of Construx.

‘In comparison to the other brands that we have used before, Ӱר Radio provides ease of installation because we can adjust settings of the remote on site with our laptops through USB connection. That really gives us the flexibility we need!’ – Wouter Vandeputte, Technical Director

The HES HARTEL tank terminal

These images were taken at the Port of Rotterdam. Here, a 1,200 m deep sea wall and a 1,000 m quay wall is constructed with Construx precast molds; operated with a wireless Ӱר Radio remote control. The project started at the beginning of 2018. To get an impression of the project, there are 50 segments that combine the deep sea wall. Each segment exists of 150 tons of concrete iron and 1,040 cubic meters of concrete. All transported by more than 100 trucks.

At the construction site of 27 hectares, there will be 52 tanks for storage and transfer of oil products and biofuels by the end of 2021. The total capacity is around 1.3 million cubic meters.
